To describe how this is done in real life by malware there is a resent article from Sophos News that shows how malicious actors run a malware campaigns that only works on amateur-installed Windows computers, since the malware needs the signed in users administrator rights to run & infect the computer via malicious powershell-scripts that:
A: adds an add an exclusion in Microsoft Defender so Defender will ignore the it’s
malware files and thus let them run freely!
B: It uses the signed in users own administrators
rights to disable the UAC (a function that pops up automatically when administrators
rights are needed and ASKS the user if the the user allows the process may be run
with administrators rights). Sophos News October 10, 2025
NOTE! Neither A or B would
have been able to infect the computer if the user had used a regular user account!
For these malware-scripts to work, the logged-in computer user must have an account
with administrator rights!
